Yossra Hamouda

I am an Egyptian writer, a public philosopher, an adjunct faculty member of philosophy at The American University in Cairo (AUC), a certified logic-based consultant through the Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation Institute, and an Egyptian lawyer. I hold three Bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy, Communication & Media Arts (Summa Cum Laude), and Law from AUC and Cairo University, as well as a Master of Arts in Philosophy from AUC. My formal qualifications are further supported by certificates in Logic-Based Consultancy, Living Future Accreditation for Environmental Building, Coptic Language, International Drama (Psychodrama and Theatre Techniques), and higher-education teaching instruction from AUC.

Driven by a commitment to democratizing philosophical thought in the Global South, I founded Bel Arabi Falsafa ("Philosophy in Plain Arabic")—an Andrew Mellon Foundation–funded initiative that has delivered public lectures to hundreds across Egyptian universities and in collaboration with UNESCO—as well as Hakima ("The Wise Woman"), an Arabic YouTube channel dedicated to accessible public philosophy. I have published political, philosophical, theological, sociological, personal articles, research papers, and literary works in both English and Arabic across academic journals and magazines, and my scholarly, literary, and public work has been recognized through several awards, fellowships, and academic scholarships alongside presentations at international research conferences across philosophy, sociology, education, and law.

Across all my academic and public pursuits, my research serves as a direct extension of an active, lifelong resistance against all oppressive power structures—intersecting radical veganism, bisexuality and queer theory, and radical feminism to dismantle anthropocentric, heteronormative, and patriarchal systems of violence. Alongside my writing, research, and public engagement, I offer professional philosophical consultancy services, using logic-based frameworks to help individuals critically analyze life dilemmas, dismantle harmful cognitive premises, and navigate complex moral and existential challenges.

Beyond my intellectual work and political commitments, I practice travel as an active mode of philosophical anthropology—an international traveler across more than 70 countries, driven by a deep passion for discovery, immersion in diverse cultures, and the collection of craftsmanship.
